" The Powertome does not remove bone and the Powertome does not require irrigation. The piezo removes bone and requires irrigation for cooling while in use. I have both and prefer the Powertome for extractions. Performing the extraction without irrigation makes the surgery easier to manage. The Powertome tips are much thinner and this reduces the chance of breaking thin bone, particularly on the labial. The Powertome leaves the extraction site in better condition and does not pose a risk of tissue damage as the tips do not get hot.”
